Cookie Notice
This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies used on www.nursetrainer.org, why they are used, and how you can change your choice. It covers this website only. Our learning portal is operated by TrainerCentral and sets its own cookies.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies, including local storage, do much the same job. They are used to keep a site working, to remember a choice you have made, and to measure how a site is used.
We group them the way the law does. Strictly necessary items are needed for the site to work or to stay secure, and do not require your consent. Everything else isoptional, and we do not set it unless you accept.
2. What we use without asking
These are strictly necessary. There is no way to run the site without them, so there is nothing to consent to.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
|---|---|---|---|
nt-consent | Nurse Trainer | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies, so you are not asked on every page | Local storage, not a cookie. Kept until you clear your browser data |
nt-currency | Nurse Trainer | Remembers which currency you asked to see fees in, so you do not have to choose again on every page | Local storage, not a cookie. Kept until you clear your browser data |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare, our hosting provider | Tells automated traffic apart from real visitors and protects the site from abuse | Cookie, about 30 minutes |
The website itself sets no other cookies. Fonts and images are served from this site rather than from a third party, so simply reading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited.
3. Cookieless analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages are popular. It is privacy first: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. Because it does not use cookies, it does not need your consent, and it measures every visit including those who reject the optional cookies below.
4. What we use only if you accept
These load only after you choose “Accept all”. If you reject, or ignore the banner, none of them are set and nothing is sent to Google or Meta.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Tells returning visits apart from new ones, so we can see how the site is used | Cookie, up to 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps track of a single visit to the site | Cookie, up to 2 years |
_fbp | Meta Pixel | Measures whether our advertising led to an enquiry | Cookie, about 3 months |
_fbc | Meta Pixel | Records which advertisement you arrived from, set only if you came from an ad | Cookie, about 3 months |
Durations are set by Google and Meta and can change. Where we advertise on Meta platforms, Meta acts as an independent controller for some of this processing and its own privacy policy applies.
5. Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. Your choice is remembered on the device and browser you are using, so you will be asked again on a different one.
6. Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and clearing site data will also remove the nt-consent record, which means you will be asked again. Blocking strictly necessary items may stop parts of the site working. The help pages for Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox all explain where these controls are.
Some browsers send a Global Privacy Control or “do not track” signal. Where we are required to honour such a signal, we treat it as a rejection of optional cookies.
7. Changes to this notice
If we add or remove a tool, we will update this notice and the table above, and ask for your choice again. The date at the top always shows when it last changed.
